Students learn about DNA from strawberries
Sophomores at Tech Valley High School learned about genetics through strawberries.
Students in Diana Weldon’s and Leah Penniman’s biotechnology class extracted DNA from the fruit and then used it to learn about genetic coding.
TVHS students will make a video game showing how DNA codes for protein and the games will be showcased in the spring at the school’s design expo.
Students are also learning how to find DNA in living objects and how it replicates.
"The idea is to create a video game that can explain DNA replication to the general public," said Weldon.
