Tech Valley students to make relief trip to Haiti | Schools
EAST GREENBUSH - Tech Valley High School students and faculty are planning a relief mission to Haiti in February as the school continues its commitment to aiding the impoverished country in its recovery from the 2010 earthquake.
Earlier this year, students from Leah Penniman's ninth grade class designed a composting sanitation system. In January of this year Penniman brought the design and equipment to Haiti, where she taught Haitians how to build toilets.
The goal of the 2013 trip is reforestation. While there the students will take part in educational lectures focusing on Haitian culture and history.
